Explore Pune

Save the extra day. Pune rewards it.

Eat
Vada Pav

Pune's street-food signature — fried potato dumpling in a bun, chillies on the side. JJ Garden Vada Pav and Hindavi are local benchmarks.

Misal Pav

Spicy curried sprouts with farsan and pav. Bedekar Tea Stall and Shree Upahar Gruha are the institutions. Bring tissues.

Bhakarwadi

Pune's most famous savoury snack — sweet-spicy rolled pastry. Chitale Bandhu makes the canonical version.

Mastani

Pune's answer to milkshake-meets-sundae. Sujata Mastani in Sadashiv Peth has been doing it since 1956.

See
Shaniwar Wada

The 18th-century Peshwa fortress at the heart of old Pune. Daily evening sound-and-light show worth catching.

Aga Khan Palace

Where Mahatma Gandhi was held under house arrest. Quiet gardens, layered history, 20 minutes from central Pune.

Dagdusheth Halwai Temple

One of the city's most active Ganesh temples, especially around Ganesh Chaturthi. Architectural mix of stone and gold.

Pataleshwar Caves

Rock-cut Shiva temple from the 8th century in the middle of the city. Free, easy to miss, easy to fall in love with.

The City's Vibe
FC Road & JM Road

Pune's student belt — bookshops, cafés, late-night roadside food. Where the SPPU and FC student crowds spill out.

Koregaon Park

Greener, quieter, more cosmopolitan. Cafés, boutique stays, the German Bakery vibe. Many ecosystem people live here.

Baner / Hinjewadi

Pune's tech belt — every major IT services firm and a thick layer of product startups. The reason Pune punches above its weight in commerce engineering.

Sinhagad Fort

For the ambitious — 45 min out of the city, fort with a long trek up and a stunning view. Best at sunrise; vada pav waits at the top.
